Finn's midwife,Christine
thankyou Christine

Your Mother is always with you. She is the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She is the smell of certain foods that you remember, flowers you pick and perfume that she wore. She is the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well. She is your breath in the air on a cold winter's day.
She is the sound of the rain. Your Mother lives inside your laughter, and she is crystallized in every tear drop. A Mother shows every emotion, happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, love, hate and anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow and all the while, hoping and praying you will only know the good feelings in life.
She is the place you came from, your first home, and she is the map that you follow with every step you take. She is your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate you.
Not time, not space, not even death.

Finn's Birth Story

I had gone two weeks over due, 2 weeks of labor starting and stopping..I was getting huge!
We had noticed that when we had been out for a drive, everything started, as soon as I sat down to rest it all stopped!! the midwife we had, Christine was being very patient and supportive. So on the 10th October, we got out our home birth book and checked out the list of things you can do to make labor stronger and last longer!! We took a bumpy drive, had a drink of red wine, squatted all night, staying on worked!!! Christine came at 6am, things were slow but were happening. To help speed things up, Christine broke the outer skin of the waters....... at 11am my waters broke, but Christine wasn't happy with the slow progress. I was getting tired and upset and felt pressured.
We all decided an ambulance should be called,as we were in the countryside of ireland a long way from any hospitals and christine was concerned. by the time the ambulance came i was in a great amount of pain. I accepted the gas and air I was offered. Michael, the ambulance guy was great, calmer than the midwife and funnier too!! I was in soooo much pain, see all my labors are 'back labors'(posteria)
It was agreed Christine the midwife would come with me in the ambulance and Mike would follow behind in her car!! Blue lights flashing..starting and stopping, I cannot express to you now the pain I felt with every bump. made to lay on my back..ugh!! The ambulance man was saying 'dont push til we get to hospital', midwife was saying 'push if you need to', then they were having this big disagreement about whether a birthing mom should push when she wants..blah blah blah.. I told them to 'SHUTUP'
The drive to the hospital seemed to go on forever. was about 45minutes of irelands most bumpy roads... we got to the hospital...I remember being pushed through all the people waiting in reception...I was embarrassed!! I thought 'its normally me watching someone else'!!!
I was taken straight to delivery suite..where I was greeted by two very confident midwives. I do remember how much better i felt..being lifted onto that bed....they turned me onto my side..and just as Mike had managed to park the midwives car.....he came into the room just as Finn's head was crowning...phew!!!!
we took Finn home 2 hours later!!!
